Visiting Bayview Finch Chiropractic Clinic for the first time doesn’t have to be complicated or confusing. Our friendly and professional team understands that you may be curious about the process and what to expect.
Dr. Gorchynski may be treating your back pain, neck pain, headache, or other aches and pains, but he and our Team will need a complete picture of your health history and overall current wellness level and routine in order to provide the best possible treatment and complementary recommendations for you. Below you will find a brief rundown of what you will experience when visiting Dr. Gorchynski at BFCC in Toronto for the first time.
new patient Intake package
The first part of the process is filling out a new member application with thorough information. To serve new patients best, we must learn about your health history and any past traumas or injuries that could contribute to your health problems. The more information we have, the better we can apply precise techniques that are customized for you.
new patient orientation
When you visit BFCC, we want you to feel at home. We will give you a basic understanding of the process and let you know what to expect from chiropractic care. As you begin improving your health through chiropractic care, you’ll gain a better understanding of what principled chiropractic is and how your body responds to chiropractic adjustments. We welcome you to ask questions as we explain what we do and how it helps improve your health — we want you to be confident in the care we provide and to expect exceptional healthcare that is customized for your needs.
Chiropractic Assessment
Once we’ve gotten information about your health and you’ve been introduced to our clinic, Dr. Gorchynski will perform a complete and scientific physical evaluation, evaluating the nervous system and muscles. It is a good idea to wear comfortable clothes and shoes for your visit to BFCC.
BFCC always uses the most advanced technology and proven methods to ensure we get to the root of any problems. In this stage, we learn what area of the spine needs to be adjusted and where the pressure on the spine is, and then we determine the most effective technique to correct the issue. During your assessment, Dr. Gorchynski may ask about the following:
What reasons or concerns brought you to BFCC
How your condition is affecting you, and what are you trying to achieve by seeing a chiropractor
Personal and family medical history
Major illnesses you have experienced
Surgeries or operations you have had
Medications you are taking
A description of your present condition
The steps you have taken to manage your condition
Your diet and exercise routine(s)
Your sleeping habits, daily activities, work routine, stress level, and home life
Additionally, Dr. Gorchynski may perform some of these tests:
A check of your blood pressure, pulse and breathing
A test of your reflexes, strength and sensations
Orthopedic tests
An analysis of your posture
An analysis of your movement — Dr. Gorchynski may will observe how you walk, turn, bend or lift things, as well as how your body moves in the affected area
A hands-on evaluation of how well your spine moves, identifying restrictions and areas of improper motion
Diagnostic Imaging
After the physical examination it may be recommended that imaging will be helpful to fully diagnose your condition. Gaining access to the most detailed health information refines the chiropractic care you receive so that it is tailored to you and your individual goals. Please bring or submit a copy of any X-rays or radiology reports, along with any other relevant supporting medical documentation you have. These assessments give us a better picture of your complete health profile. Dr. Gorchynski will make a diagnosis, prescribe a course of chiropractic care, and inform the BFCC Team to structure a plan for you based on his findings. Once the matter of informed consent has been discussed with you, structured treatment usually begins.
Customized Care
All of the health information is now reviewed by Dr. Gorchynski, and a customized plan of care is created. Everything from your medical history to your health goals to the results of your examination is taken into account so your individual needs are met.
Taking into account your concerns and reasons for visiting us, Dr. Gorchynski will recommend a course of treatment specific to you that may also include other complementary external modalities such as mobilization of the joints, soft tissue therapy, electrotherapies such as ultrasound or cold laser, and therapeutic exercises — as well as additional holistic wellness strategies such as nutritional counselling, naturopathy, massage, and rehabilitation and injury prevention practices, to name only a few. If Dr. Gorchynski diagnoses a condition more appropriately treated by another health care professional, he will make a referral.
Report of Findings
At a follow-up visit, Dr. Gorchynski will provide you with a detailed report of our findings and the results of the examinations. We will review the customized plan of corrective care and plan your adjustment schedule moving forward. We will also go over payment options and answer any questions you have about the next steps. Dr. Gorchynski and the BFCC Team will discuss any treatment options with you so that you can collaboratively decide together on the best course of action for you.
